The Member representing Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency I, at the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Werinipre Pamo, has condemned the recent attack on a female member of his constituency by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Pamoh cautioned members transacting business in the constituency not to take laws into their hands, as any act involving attack on law-abiding citizens would not be tolerated.
Speaking while at the scene of the incident, in Kaiama to assess the situation, he commended security agencies for their prompt intervention in calming the situation.
He said, I want to applaud the youths of Kaiama and Orubiri communities for their restraint and willingness to listen to their leaders.”
He revealed that he visited the victim in the hospital, provided financial assistance for her care, and promised to cover her hospital bills and urged the Hausa community leaders to visit the victim.
The lawmaker emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence between the Hausa community and the indigenous people of the area, noting that this was the first time such an is occuring in their many years of stay in the community.
He stated that within two years as a lawmaker he has embarked on various Constituency projects, education and human empowerment as well as lobbied projects to his Constituency.
He highlighted the projects to include 430km road at Kaiama, 400km road st Odi community, a borehole project in Kaiama in addition to other projects.
The lawmaker assured that he would continue to prioritize the development of his Constituency by sponsoring bills and influencing more projects and called for prayers amd support to enable him succeed.
